• I have had this Proctor Silex K4087Y Cordless Electric Kettle for a couple of years and absolutely love it. It boils water much quicker than my gas stove and I can leave it plugged in all day and reheat later. My mom had a stroke last spring and since then has burned several pots after putting them on the stove with water to boil for her tea. And then forgetting about them. I just bought her this pot. She loves being able to fill it in the evening as her hands are stiff and wih less control in the mornings. In the morning she pushes the button down and it quickly boils. If she forgets, it turns itself off. When she remembers again, she just pushes the button on the handle down and it heats up again. Perfect! No more worries about burning the house down.
  One tip: If you have hard water be sure to drain the pot and leave it with the top open to dry out periodically. Otherwise the metal coils inside will become caked with calcium and other sediments. If this happens just soak in vinegar and it comes right off. Wash it out and it is clean as new.

• I fell in love with electric kettles on trips to Europe. I really never ran across them at stores in the US back when I learned about them. • I have had mine for about 7 months so far and do keep water inside of it when not in use. There has been no issues with rust thus far, and I just checked the interior of the kettle.

• Yes, the body of the Ovente KG83B Glass Electric Kettle is 100% stainless. The plastic handle and lid do not touch the water at all — the plastic parts are only on the outside

• The coil is completely contained. The round black ring at the bottom of the picture is the heating element. There is a small “peg” in the middle of this round plate. The kettle fits on top of the peg. There are no coils exposed.
• Apparent false advertising aside (I never noticed that!), I exceed the max 1.7L by 1-2 cups typically with no issues.
• I had the experience of the rusting on the rim, near the lid hinge, but not the inside. I empty the water after pouring the water for coffee. The manufacturer said to prevent rust on the rim wipe dry, to remove what it had, they suggested a little baking soda on a damp towel.

• Last winter, I discovered Puerh tea. To discover Puerh is to drink Puerh all day long; and Puerh cannot sit in water, it has to be steeped freshly each serving or it will become bitter.

• The Panasonic NC-EH30PC Water Boiler worked great for about 6 weeks then stopped working. Ordered another because we liked it for tea and pressed coffee. I thought we would get another soon and put in my wife’s studio.

• After using this hot pot for six months, I found black debris floating in the hot water. I checked the inside of the pot and found the black coating on the bottom faded and the small filter turned black and rusted. I used a white tissue paper to dry the bottom.

• I’ve had this pot for a little over a month, and so far, it’s working as advertised. It takes about 20 minutes to heat up a full pot to 208 degrees F. and it keeps that temperature for as long as it’s plugged in.
